The Castle of Good Hope is getting a Make-Over…

The Castle is currently undergoing renovations but we are still open for business! Although some of our spaces are not accessible, there is still plenty to see and do. Guided tours at 11:00, 12:00 and 14:00 daily.

The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest colonial building in South Africa. Its construction began in 1666 and it became and remained a central point for the governance of the Cape Colony for a very long time. Today you will find a playground of historic artefacts in the museums as well as daily demonstrations of old traditions like firing the canons. The castle is currently open but is still busy with the restoration project. We will be back to see the finished product and update this video.
